HOW TO APPLY

A professional headshot
A short cover letter outlining your career aspirations and how you plan to use the STC Internship Grant, if selected.
Two 150-300 word essays:
What do you feel is the biggest issue facing multicultural women in the workplace? How do you plan to overcome this?
Michelle Obama once said, “...when you’ve worked hard, and done well, and walked through that doorway of opportunity, you do not slam it shut behind you. You reach back and you give other folks the same chances that helped you succeed.” As you begin your journey to achieve the career goals you mentioned in your cover letter, how do you plan to reach back and help those coming behind you?
Q. How much is the internship grant and how many winners will there be?
A. One (1) applicant will receive a $1,000 internship grant.
Q. Do I have to have already secured an internship to apply for the STC Internship Grant?
A. No, you do not have to have an internship lined up when you apply for the grant. We don’t announce winners until mid-April to give applicants enough time to secure an internship before the grant is awarded.
Q. What can I use the grant for?
A. The STC Internship Grant can be used to offset the cost of housing, food, plane tickets or other expenses related to your summer internship. It can also be used as a stipend if you are doing an underpaid/unpaid internship in a city outside of your hometown or state.
Q. Do I have to be interning in a large city to be eligible?
A. Not necessarily. Although priority will be given to applicants interning in cities outside of their hometown or state, or in areas with high costs of living (i.e. New York, San Francisco, LA), it is not a requirement to apply.
Q. If my employer is providing a relocation package, will I be eligible to receive the grant?
